Unable to upgrade from SQL 2012 evaluation version to enterprise edition after evaluation expired
Hello,
My SQL 2012 evaluation version expired, I found out after server rebooted. I then download EE version from MSDN subscription (no key required). I followed this procedurehttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc707783.aspx to do the upgrade. Everything was passed, the key was provided automatically. The upgrade was completed successfully. But it is still evaluation version saying the evaluation is expired after the upgrade.
I also tried to follow a KB to configurationstate of commonfiles from 1 to 3, same result.
I have tried this on multiple machines, all same results. They are all on AlwaysOn cluster.

Any idea what the problem is? I don't want to uninstall then reinstall, as that would require to setup whole AlwaysOn again?
Thanks!
2008 R2 Developer installation failure
I have had the folowing failures on a SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer install on Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit:
- Your SQL Server 2008 R2 completed with failures.
- Error writing to file msvcp80.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory.
- The cabinet file Sql.cab required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a ntework error, an error reading rom the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.
- Wait on the Database Engine recovery handle failed. Check the SQL Server error log for potential causes.
I ran the pe-installation checker beforehand with no errors reported and tried to repair without any success. Here is the error log. Any ideas?:

Repeatedly offered KB2463332
I am repeatedly offered this update. After running, it states "Succressfully installed". BUT, when I run SQL Server Configuration Manager, I see that, although SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) reports it is at Service Pack Level 4, SQL Swerver (MSSMLBIZ) is only at Service Pack Level 3. (On a different machine, it reports Level 4, which I assume is proper, since I am not repeatedly offered that update).
I have tried a number of recommended fixes to no avail:
- The various steps in MSKB 910339
- Install update following a clean boot and with my anti-virus (Avast) disabled.
- I cannot uninstall the update as it is not listed under Control Panel/Programs and Features/Installed Updates
- This machine was a new install last December; no other AV or instances of SQL Server had been installed.
- SQL Server is used with Microsoft Office Accounting 2009

MS SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition installation error
The resource 'DB01-MP_Root01' could not be moved
Hello,
I have setup a Server 2012 Failover cluster and i'm trying to install SQL 2012 on it.
In the last process of the SQL installation it fails and looking in the log file i see:
(01) 2013-01-01 20:13:37 Slp: The resource 'DB01-MP_Root01' could not be moved from cluster group 'Available Storage' to cluster group 'SQL Server (DB01)'. Error: There was a failure to call cluster code from a provider. Exception message: Generic failure . Status code: 183. Description: Cannot create a file when that file already exists.
Cluster Validation is all OK, and i have also tried to assign the disk to a DTC role in the Failover Cluster, just to see if i could manually add the disks to a cluster ressource.
Does anyone have a clue about what is going on ?

Uninstall "SQL 2008 R2 Express" (Common Files & Database Engine Shared)??
I've been trying to uninstall SQL 2008 R2 Express but no luck.
I think I didn't remove the components in right order in Control Panel..
Now, I have left with a component calll "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup (English)" which I can't get rid of..
When I try to uninstall it, it gives me an error "Warning 26003. MS Server 2008 R2 Setup Support Files cannot be uninstalled because the following products are installed:
SQL Server 2008 R2 Common Files
SQL Server 2008 R2 Database Engine Shared"
If I click OK,
it says something like "Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package"sqlsupport.msi"
at this point, it wouldn't let me uninstall nor reinstall..
Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you!
Installing SQL Reporting Services to exisiting SQL 2008 R2 Instance?
Hello all,
I have only one Server with SQL 2008 R2 that I use for my SCCM 2012, the SQL server is not clustered.
I want to use the reporting feature in my SCCM 2012 but that requires SRSS, when I tried to add the Reporting Services feature to my existing SQL server instance it gives me this error "the instance name is already in use" so I can't continue install this feature!!
So can I install this feature on existing SQL 2008 R2 sever?
thanks for the help

Taking Performance Benchmark for Upgrading SQL Server
Hi All,
We are Upgrading our SQL Servers from 2008 Standard edition to 2008 r2 Enterprise edition, hence we need to take the Performance benchmark and run it before upgrade and compare after post upgrade.
Apart from taking the Performance Counters benchmark, what else can be used to take the Performance benchmark.
Please suggest.
Thanks

Cannot connect to database master at SQL server at "SERVERNAME"
I have installed SQL 2008 R2 in a fresh win 2008 R2. I’m running the sharepoint configuration Wizard using the database server name with the correct domain credentials but I get the following error message. “Cannot connect to database master at SQL server atSERVERNAME. The database might not exist, or the current user does not have permission to connect”
I‘m able to login to the new SQL server using the “SQL server management studio” with no problems. I used the sa account and a domain account.
The sharepoint server is also a new installation. And both servers have the firewall disabled.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc 11.0.0.0 Not Found
Hi Group.
Using the "Connect To Database" button in Server Explorer all goes well until I click the "OK" button in the Add Connection dialog. When this dialog goes to literally add the connection to Server Explorer I receive the error "Unable to Add connection...file not found". Note that upon testing the connection with the "Test Connection" button it checks out okay. The file it states that can't be found is: "Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc, version=11.0.0.0" or one of its dependencies.
I've tried:
1. Repairing Visual Studio via Uninstall/Repair
2. Using SQL's Server Installation Center to confirm all aspects are valid/correct - are
3. Searching for this error using the filename ...Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc and there are reports of this problem but their error references the file as having version 10; mine references 11 and as well I have completed all of the fixes they
suggest with no effect.
I am using Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview. My thoughts are that in re-installing SQL Server 2008 R2 Express I somehow have lost or changed this file from 11 back to 10 and that VS-11 DP requires version 11.
If I'm right would you know how to obtain this file or how to go about repairing the installation other than how I've tried? If my assumption is incorrect, how to fix this problem?
Thank you for all input!
